Last week’s top two teams in the HNIB News Mass. Girls Division I poll suffered defeats this past week, which shuffles the order of this latest edition of the poll.

This week will see Duxbury (4-0-1) as the new top clubs. The Dragons, in their first year in Division I after three straight state titles in Division 2, had a good week, blanking league rival Hingham, 1-0, at Fenway Park on New Year’s Eve day, and then blitzing Sandwich, 8-3. Duxbury hosts Fontbonne on Tuesday, and then welcomes Barnstable to The Bog on Saturday, with the chance to avenge an early-season 1-1 tie.

#2 St Mary’s (3-0-1) latest result was a key 1-0 win over Austin Prep. The Lady Spartans have a huge week ahead with three key home games, starting with tonight’s makeup with #3 Arlington Catholic (4-1-0). St Mary’s hosts Hingham on Wednesday and then Newton North on Saturday.

Arlington Catholic, which rallied from a two-goal deficit Saturday to down Archbishop Williams, hosts Ursuline Wednesday and is at Billerica on Saturday.

#4 Woburn (6-1-0) will have a while to focus on Saturday’s loss to rival Winchester which snapped the Tanners 26-game regular season unbeaten streak. They are not back in action until Saturday at Arlington.

#5 Reading (4-1-2) hosts Arlington on Wednesday. The Rockets were solid in a 4-1 win over Lexington on Saturday and will be at Winchester this Saturday.

#6 Austin Prep (3-1-0) fell from the ranks of the unbeaten in the hard-breaking loss to St. Mary’s. The Cougars are at Fontbonne on Thursday and host Andover on Saturday.

#7 Acton-Boxboro (3-1-0) had a key 2-1 win over Andover and will be at Arlington tonight. The remainder of the week the Colonials will see Boston Latin (1/10) and Fontbonne (1/11).

High-scoring #8 Beverly/Danvers (5-0-0) is still unbeaten. A couple of road games – at Cambridge (1/9) and at Masconomet (1/11) – loom this week.

#9 Barnstable (2-0-2) has been off for a while and looks to make a statement tonight at #10 Hingham (3-3-0). The Red Raiders also will look ahead to Duxbury on Saturday.

Two unbeaten clubs looking to crack the Top 10 are Winthrop/Lynn (5-0-0) and Watertown/Belmont (5-0-0). These two clubs battle each other tonight in another key tilt.
