It was a quiet week at the top, as the first three teams in the HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10 were all off this past week, unable to compete.
#1 Canton (4-0-0) also will not be in action this coming week, as a pair of games with Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro were rescheduled to February.
#2 Matignon (5-0-0) gets back into action with a Thursday date with D1 Arlington Catholic.
The same holds true for #3 Notre Dame Academy (1-0-0), looking forward to scheduled matchups with Hingham (Wednesday) and Duxbury (Thursday).
On the other hand, #4 Falmouth (3-0-0) will be busy. After wins over Dennis-Yarmouth and Martha’s Vineyard, the Clippers have a pair of contests with Nauset (Cape Cod Furies) slated for Monday and Saturday.
#5 Sandwich (4-1-0), which blanked Old Rochester Saturday, gets the Furies on Wednesday, then Barnstable (Friday) and Dennis-Yarmouth (Saturday).
#6 Natick (3-0-0) picked up its third straight win over Wellesley, a wild 6-5 affair. A pair of contests with the Newton Co-op are on tap for this week.
#7 Westwood (3-0-0) exploded for eight goals in a win over Medway Co-op. The Wolverines are off until a Sunday game with Medfield.
#8 Algonquin (4-0-0) knocked off Oakmont in its only action of this past week. Longmeadow (Wednesday) and Leominster (Saturday) are scheduled for this week.
A newcomer this week at #9 is Pembroke, which improved to 6-1-0 after a shutout win over Plymouth. The Titans, who lost only to D1 power Duxbury, also had a solid win over Hingham and face Cohasset/Hanover Wednesday.
Dedham (3-1-1) is back in the rankings at #10, but is on pause for the next week.
