There was a little movement in this latest HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10.
#1 Canton (4-0-0) is itching to get back into game action and the Bulldogs look ahead to a two-game set with Latin Academy (2/3, 2/5).
After an idle period in its schedule, Notre Dame Academy (3-0-1) got back into action, taking down D1 Duxbury from the ranks of the unbeaten, 2-0, after tying Hingham (3-3). The Cougars also downed Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake (5-1) and move up to #2 this week. A rematch with Duxbury looms Wednesday.
#3 Matignon remained perfect at 7-0-0, getting past league rivaals St. Joseph Prep/Mt. Alvernia (3-0) and Arlington Catholic (2-1). AC again is up next for the Warriors, who then face D1’s top team in Austin Prep on Saturday.
Also perfect to date is #4 Falmouth (5-0-0). The Clippers had wins over the Cape Cod Furies (3-1) and King Philip (4-3). Barnstable (Monday), Nantucket (Wednesday) and Barnstable (Saturday) are expected on this week’s docket.
#5 Sandwich (6-1-0) also had a pair of wins, downing Barnstable (2-1) and Martha’s Vineyard (4-1). The Blue Knights are prepping for a busy week that would include Barnstable (Wednesday), Cape Cod Furies (Thursday) and Dennis-Yarmouth (Sunday).
#6 Natick (4-0-0) won its only game on the week, blanking Newton Co-op, 4-0.
#7 Algonquin (5-0-1) followed up a tie with Longmeadow (2-2) with a shutout win over Leominster. A big game looms Wednesday with D1 Shrewsbury.
#8 Westwood (3-0-1) had a tie with Medway Co-op (2-2) and have two more games scheduled with Medway for the coming week (Wednesday, Saturday).
#9 Pembroke (8-1-0) increased its winning streak to eight games after knocking off Plymouth (5-0), Cohasset/Hanover (4-2) and E. Bridgewater/W. Bridgewater (4-0). The Titans will have a tough one Wednesday, scheduled to face Quincy/North Quincy.
Despite being idle, Dedham (3-1-1) holds on to the #10 spot. The Marauders hope to face Norwood twice this week.
