Mass. Girls D2 Top 10
Duxbury (11-0-2) continues to lead the pack in the latest HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10. The Dragons blanked Whitman-Hanson (7-0) in their only action this past week, and will be tested in a Monday battle with Hingham.
It was another solid week for #2 Winchester (10-1-0) as the Red & Black took down Watertown (3-0) and Reading (4-1). Winchester hosts Belmont on Wednesday and gets another crack at Arlington on Saturday.
#3 Sandwich (10-2-0) had a split week against a pair of D1 opponents. The Knights beat the Cape Cod Furies (6-1) and fell in a close one to Notre Dame Academy (2-1). A big week sees Dennis-Yarmouth (Monday), Barnstable (Wednesday) and Old Rochester (Saturday).
Despite not playing, Algonquin/Hudson (9-1-2) moves up to #4. The T-Hawks are scheduled to face Leominster on Wednesday.
#5 Braintree (9-2-1) continued its strong play of late, blanking Newton North (7-0) in its only action. The Wamps look ahead to Milton on Wednesday.
Up a couple of spots to #6 is still unbeaten Norwood (11-0-0). The Mustangs knocked off Medway/Ashland (3-2) in their only game. Hopkinton/Dover-Sherborn (Monday) and Medfield (Saturday) sandwich a huge tilt with Westwood (Wednesday).
#7 Andover (7-3-1) won a pair, downing Westford Academy (8-2) and Methuen/Tewksbury (3-1). Bishop Fenwick is the opponent on Wednesday before a big one looms Saturday with Acton-Boxboro.
#8 Needham (6-2-4) drops a few pegs after a loss to Framingham (3-1) and a tie with Wellesley (4-4). The Rockets will see Weymouth on Wednesday.
#9 Natick (6-5-2) had two solid wins, deafeating Wellesley (3-2) and Weymouth (7-1) to climb a spot. The Redhawks have Framingham on the docket twice this week (Monday, Saturday) and will face Walpole on Wednesday,
Woburn (7-3-2) slips to #10 after a week that saw a win (4-3 over Burlington), loss (4-1 to Arlington) and tie (4-4 with Lexington).
