Other than this week’s post-season tournaments in the Cape & Islands League, the abbreviated 2020-21 season is now in the books. It was good to see players get the chance to have a season, and compete against other schools.
Here is the HNIB News final Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10 of the season.
#1 Matignon (12-1-0) had its bid for a perfect season fall just short in the finals of the Catholic Central League Cup, where the Warriors fell 3-2 to D1’s top team St. Mary’s. Nevertheless it was a banner campaign for Matignon, which beat St. Mary’s early in the season and also had a win over Austin Prep.
#2 Notre Dame (6-1-2) saw its only loss come to D1 power Duxbury, who they also beat.
#3 Canton (8-1-1) took home the Hockomock League crown.
#4 Falmouth (11-0-1) hopes to keep its unbeaten season going in the upcoming Cape & Islands tournament, where the Clippers are the top seed.
#5 Natick (9-0-1) ruled the Bay State Conference, outscoring its opponents by a 42-18 margin this winter.
#6 Sandwich (9-2-1) looks for a chance to avenge it only two losses of the season, both to Falmouth, in this week’s C&I tournament.
#7 Pembroke (13-2-0) opened the season with a loss to Duxbury, and closed with a loss to Duxbury. In between, the Titans won all 13 games.
#8 Algonquin‘s (7-1-4) only loss came to D1 Shrewsbury this past week. The T-Hawks also tied Shrewsbury three times.
Westwood (6-0-2) at #9 and Dedham (6-1-2) at #10, both from the Tri-Valley League, round out this final set of Girls D2 rankings.
