A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. Mass. Girls D2 Top 10


Unlike last week, there was not a lot of movement in this latest installment of the HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10. The top teams all won their games, or didn’t or couldn’t play.

#1 Duxbury (6-0-2) did play and picked up two more wins over Hingham and Scituate. The Dragons can not look past Pembroke this Wednesday.

#2 Andover (4-1-0) had a mid-season win over Methuen/Tewksbury and will have its hands full with unbeaten Acton-Boxboro (D1 #7) on Wednesday.

It was a quiet week for #3 Sandwich (4-0-0) but the Knights are back Wednesday when they travel to Martha’s Vineyard, then host rival #8 Falmouth (4-2-0) on Saturday in a big one.

#4 Algonquin/Hudson (8-0-1) continues to cruise along with wins over Longmeadow and Oakmont. The T-Hawks have a week to rest, not scheduled for game action until a week from Monday against Franklin.

Paused for the week, #5 Woburn (3-1-1) returns for a huge battle with #7 Winchester (4-0-0) on Wednesday. The Red & Black have also been idle.

#6 Natick (3-2-1) held off Newton North (3-2) on Saturday and is scheduled to face Brookline Wednesday before a key one with Notre Dame on Saturday.

#8 Falmouth (4-2-0) has a big week scheduled, facing Barnstable on Wednesday before the Sandwich standoff.

Needham (4-1-1) returns to the rankings this week at #9 thanks to shutout wins over Braintree and Milton. The Rockets are to square off with Newton Wednesday.

Westwood (4-0-0) holds firm at #10 and looks ahead to Franklin on Wednesday.
