As the season winds down, some teams look forward to league tournaments, others just to their remaining games. This week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10 features the same teams as last week, with just one adjustment.
#1 Canton (6-0-0) returned to action after a break and posted back-to-back 7-1 wins over Latin Academy. The Bulldogs are slated to face King Philip twice this week (Tues/Wed).
How about #2 Matignon (9-0-0)? The Warriors took down D1 power Austin 3-1 on Saturday to keep its perfect season intact. Coach Tom Scarpa’s club also blanked Arlington Catholic, 5-0. They face St. Joseph Prep (Wednesday) and a possible makeup with St. Mary’s.
#3 Notre Dame Academy (5-1-1) fell to D1 power Duxbury 1-0 for its first loss. The Cougars then rebounded with a pair of wins over Marshfield.
#4 Falmouth (7-0-0) continues its strong play, with wins over Nantucket and Barnstable. A second meeting with #5 Sandwich (6-1-1) looms on Wednesday.
The Blue Knights had a tie with Barnstable this week and also are scheduled to face the Cape Cod Furies (Tuesday) and Nantucket (Thursday).
#6 Natick (6-0-1) suffered its first blemish with a 1-1 tie with Braintree, but also swept a pair of games against Walpole.
#7 Algonquin (6-0-2) had a tie with Shrewsbury and a win over Pope Francis. The T-Hawks are off this week.
#8 Westwood (4-0-1) was impressive in a 7-1 win over Medway Co-op on Saturday. The Wolverines look ahead to Norwood (Wednesday) and Medfield (Thursday).
