The final week of 2021 saw just a smattering of games, and as a result, the first HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Top 10 of the new year stays intact.

Austin Prep (5-0-0) remains at #1. The Cougars recorded their fifth straight shutout of the young season but were pushed in a 3-0 win over #9 Shrewsbury. League games are scheduled with Bishop Fenwick (Tuesday) and St. Joseph Prep (Wednesday).

#2 Notre Dame Academy (2-0-1) got back into action and won the Tenney Cup, taking down #8 Hingham in the final. A busy week should see Barnstable (Wednesday), Falmouth (Friday) and Westwood (Saturday).

#3 Arlington (2-0-1) was deadlocked by Woburn in its return to action. The Spy Ponders are scheduled to face Lexington on Wednesday and then Winchester Saturday.

#4 St. Mary’s (3-1-0) has had its last two games postponed and won’t return to action until Saturday against Bishop Feehan.

#5 Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading (4-1-1) and #6 Winthrop (3-0-1) solved nothing in their 2-2 tie this past week. Both stay with league play this coming week.

On the shelf for a while, #7 Acton-Boxboro (3-0-0) is hoping to return to action Wednesday against Westford Academy.

Hingham has a battle with Duxbury, Shrewsbury a key league tilt with Billerica/Chelmsford and the Cape Cod Furies are hoping to return to action against Falmouth, all scheduled for Wednesday.
