The top three in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Top 10 remained intact, but there was some shuffling in the rest of the rankings.

#1 Austin Prep (15-0-0) blanked Billerica/Chelmsford 4-0 in its only game of the week. Road games against Bishop Fenwick (Wednesday) and St. Mary’s (Saturday) loom for the Cougars.

#2 Winthrop (10-0-1) emerged victorious in its showdown with Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading and now has its destiny in its own hands with regard to the Northeastern Hockey League title. This week the Vikings get Marblehead (Wednesday) and Shawsheen (Sunday).

Don’t look now, but #3 Arlington (13-1-1) has won 10 straight after back-to-back shutouts over Lexington and Winchester. The Spy Ponders are scheduled to face ML Liberty Division foes Belmont (Wednesday) and Reading (Saturday).

Acton-Boxboro (10-2-1) moves up to #4 after a big week that saw the Colonials down Billerica/Chelmsford (7-2), Pope Francis (6-0) and Andover (2-0). They look to keep up their strong play against Westford Academy (Tuesday) and HPNA (Thursday).

#5 Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading (10-3-1) had a win over Shawsheen after the loss to Winthrop. PLNR is off until a Saturday date with Newburyport.

#6 St. Mary’s (8-3-2) got in some good game action, beating league foe Matignon and Hanover, NH, but, alas, falling to the same Matignon squad 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans have Arlington Catholic Wednesday before a second crack at Austin Prep Saturday.

Notre Dame Academy (5-4-3) stays put at #7 after a win (Malden Catholic) and loss (LaSalle, RI). NDA is also off for the week, not playing until a Saturday battle with Boston Latin.

Shrewsbury (7-4-1) is up a spot to #8. The Colonials were tied up by Methuen/Tewksbury but did blank Lincoln-Sudbury (3-0). Up next are a strong Algonquin/Hudson team (Monday) and Westford Academy (Wednesday).

Jumping back in the rankings at #9 are the Cape Cod Furies (9-2-2). The Furies grabbed wins over Longmeadow, Pembroke and Nantucket this past week. A key game looms Monday with Falmouth, and then games with Martha’s Vineyard (Wednesday) and Old Rochester (Saturday).

#10 HPNA (8-4-2) slides down after falling to Methuen/Tewksbury Saturday. They did beat Westford Academy earlier in the week. After seeing Acton-Boxboro Wednesday it will be Malden Catholic on Friday.
