With several teams missing action due to postponements and pauses for health and safety protocols, there again was not much change in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Top 10.
Austin Prep (7-0-0) continues in the top spot, finally relinquishing its first goals of the season in a 7-2 win over Fenwick. Will the Cougars be tested this week, as they face #3 Arlington (3-1-1) Monday night at Ed Burns Arena, then host #4 St. Mary’s (3-1-1) on Wednesday?
#2 Notre Dame Academy (2-0-1) still has yet to play in the New Year, as a pair of postponements wiped out an what would have been an interesting weekend. NDA looks to return to action Friday against Needham and Saturday against Natick, two ranked D2 clubs.
Arlington has seen two of its last three games shelved. The one they did play, was a 2-1 OT win over Lexington. After Austin, the Spy Ponders have Belmont (Wednesday) and Reading (Saturday).
St. Mary’s was fit to be tied Saturday in a 2-2 deadlock with new #10 Bishop Feehan (3-1-2). The Spartans travel to Bishop Stang on Saturday.
#5 Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading (4-1-1) lost both of its games to postponement and look to swing back into action Wednesday against Malden Catholic.

After being idle for an extended period, #7 Acton-Boxboro (5-0-0) returned to action in impressive fashion with league wins over Westford Academy (8-1) and Billerica/Chelmsford (4-0). The Colonials, who have allowed just two goals all season, have a test Wednesday at Andover.
#8 Shrewsbury (4-3-0) got in a pair of league games as well and knocked off Billerica/Chelmsford and Methuen/Tewksbury. These Colonials are scheduled to face Masconomet (Wednesday) and Westford Academy (Saturday).
#9 Hingham (3-3-0) fell to Duxbury in its only action and gears up for Scituate (Wednesday) and Pembroke (Saturday). Newcomer Bishop Feehan tied up St Mary’s Saturday and its only loss through six games was to top-ranked Austin Prep.
