Thanks primarily to this weekend’s snowstorm, it was a relatively quiet week for teams in the HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Top 10 that saw some small movement.

#1 Austin Prep (14-0-0) beat Matignon in its only action. Next up for the Cougars is Billerica/Chelmsford on Tuesday.

#2 Winthrop (8-0-1) played just once as well, beating Latin Academy/Fontbonne (5-1). The Vikings now prepare for a Wednesday showdown with #5 Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading (9-2-1) which will go a long way in determining the Northeastern Hockey League title. The two teams tied earlier this season.

Arlington (10-1-1) stays solid at #3 after a good week that saw wins over Melrose and Woburn. The Spy Ponders face cross-town rival Arlington Catholic (Monday), Lexington (Wednesday) and an intriguing battle with Winchester (Saturday).

#4 St. Mary’s (6-2-2) was idle and swings back into action Monday against Matignon. On Saturday the Spartans host New Hampshire power Hanover.

PLNR jumps back up to #5 after league wins over Gloucester (4-1) and Beverly/Danvers (5-2). Following the Winthrop tussle, PLNR will see Shawsheen on Saturday.

#6 Acton-Boxboro (7-2-1) and #7 Notre Dame Academy (4-3-3) skated to a 1-1 standoff this week. The Cougars also had a big win over Sandwich (2-1). A-B can’t look past Pope Francis on Monday. NDA travels to tough Malden Catholic on Wednesday.

#8 HPNA (6-3-2) downed #9 Shrewsbury (6-4-0) 1-0 on Wednesday, after falling to them earlier in the season by the same score. The Colonials look ahead to Methuen/Tewksbury on Wednesday.

HPNA followed that win with a solid decision of Longmeadow Sunday. They face Westford Academy (Wednesday) and Methuen/Tewksbury (Saturday).

Hingham (7-5-0) is back in the Top 10 this week. The Harborwomen look to hand Duxbury its first loss this week.
