A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. MIAA Division: 1

In their inaugural varsity season a year ago, the Cardinals exceeded expectations according to coach Connors who, with everyone back from last season, says his club is “poised to make some noise.”

An offensive unit ready to show what it can do includes senior captain Morgan Peritz (14 pts), seniors Lauren Crocker and Mia Alfonso (12 pts), junior Eleanor Jacoby and sophomores Lily Hayes (11 pts) and Ela Rabidoux. Three freshmen – Ava Carvel, Giada Musa and Camryn Rogowski – add to the mix, as does sophomore Ivorie Arguin.

A young but experienced defense features juniors Kellie Harrington, Sara Wright and Lila Roche, and sophomore Grace Sands. New sophomore Kaitlyn Ondrick and freshman Sara Tatro add quality depth.

Senior Rowan Howe and freshman Felix Goeckel will be in the goaltending rotation.

ALGONQUIN/HUDSON (7-1-4)

Coach: Mike Hodge

MIAA Division: 2

If the T-Hawks can adequately replace some key production up front, they could make a good run.

Sophomore Emily Johns (12 pts) will be a catalyst in the forward ranks. Another sophomore back is Mallory Farrell.

A stingy defensive unit will be made up of senior Jill Johannes, senior Sabrina Ferro and junior Olivia Bower. Senior Lana Pacific (1.25 gaa) will be tough to beat in the T-Hawks cage.

LONGMEADOW (2-5-2)

Coach: Melissa Vandermyn

MIAA Division: 1

With a strong senior core and good team speed, the Lancers look forward to a successful campaign.

Seniors Kayla Russ and Anna Chrisanthopoulos will be offensive leaders, ably assisted by senior Nina Cuccovia, senior Aubrey Welch and juniors Jane O’Connor. The forward ranks are bolstered with the arrival of three talented freshmen in Ellie Silva, Margo Watkins and Rylee Welch.

A veteran defense has seniors Casey Scanlon, Regan Donahue and Clara Laudato, and junior Madeline Murphy.

A returning goaltender is senior Madison Gallant.

LEOMINSTER CO-OP (3-8-1)

Coach: Nancy LeBlanc

MIAA Division: 2

With seven seniors having moved on, developing team chemistry among the returning and new players will be a key.

The Blue Devils will be led up front by senior returners Molly Kimball (12 pts) and Rachel Kendall (6 pts). The team expects to add freshmen Carley Ehwa and Alyssa Allan to the fold.

Amanda Allain, a junior, will be a defensive anchor. Eighth-grader Carina Eshbaugh saw varsity time in goal last winter.

OAKMONT (1-3-1)

Coach: Brenda Cormier

MIAA Division: 2

Bet that the Spartans look forward to a full season of hockey after getting to play only five games last winter.

The offense will be powered by senior Annaka Gendron, sophomore Lillie Johnson and freshman Rachel Sinkewicz. Freshman Sasha Gendron will be an added plus.

Junior returners Kelly Paquet and Ashley Jorge will be supplmented on defense by new junior Jessica Starr. A goalie returning for Oakmont is senior Ashley Bourn.

** Auburn will also be in Central/West. No informatin was available as of post time.
