The Wellesley Express continues to roll on. The Raiders (6-1-0) continue to lead the HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10 after two more convincing wins over Brookline (6-1) and Newton (7-1).
The Raiders will have an interesting upcoming week with D1 Needham (Wednesday) and Natick (Saturday) on this week’s docket.
#2 Canton (8-0-1) suffered its first blemish with a 2-2 tie with Franklin, but rebounded by knocking Waltham from the unbeaten ranks Saturday (2-1). A couple of key tilts are on the horizon with Dedham (Wednesday) and Westwood (Saturday).
Falmouth (6-1-1) ascends to the #3 spot. The Clippers did tie the Cape Cod Furies (2-2) but responded with a big win over Nantucket in Cape & Island play. They will continue in league play this week, seeing Barnstable (Wednesday) and Sandwich (Saturday).
#4 Dennis-Yarmouth (6-0-1) put up a pair of 3-1 wins over Sandwich and Archbishop Williams to remain unbeaten. Next up for the Dolphins? A Saturday date with Barnstable.
Make it seven straight wins for #5 Natick (7-2-0) after victories over Newton and Framingham. Things get ratcheted up in a big way this week for the Redhawks with D1 #2 Braintree (Wednesday) and Wellesley (Saturday).
#6 Notre Dame Academy (4-3-1) had a solid win over #7 Westwood (5-1) and fell to D1’s #1 club Austin Prep (4-0) on Saturday. The Cougars see Acton-Boxboro (Wednesday) and King Philip (Saturday) this week.
The Wolverines (6-3-0) rebounded from the loss to NDA with a 4-1 conquest of Norwood. Prior to Saturday’s showdown with Canton, Westwood will have its hands full Tuesday with Franklin.
Norwell (8-2-0) jumps into the rankings at #8 after a weekend that saw wins over Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading (6-4) and Plymouth (7-0). The Clippers are off until a Saturday date with Duxbury.
#9 Bishop Fenwick (7-2-2) had a split decision this weekend, knocking off Matignon (2-1) before being blanked Sunday by Marblehead (2-0). The Crusaders have Beverly/Danvers Wednesday and Arlington Catholic Saturday.
Dedham stays put at #10. The Marauders were also up-and-down, falling to Medway/Ashland (2-1) and beating a good Franklin team (5-2). After Canton, Dedham has Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro Saturday.
