There is some minor movement in this latest edition of the HNIB News Mass. Girls D2 Top 10, including the reappearance of one team into the group.

At the top, Notre Dame of Hingham (13-2-1) will keep its spot at #1. The Cougars had a couple of tough games, sneaking past Shrewsbury (1-0) and then tying Fontbonne (1-1). More tough games loom, with Milton in the first round of the Cougar Classic on Tuesday, then either D1 #1 Austin Prep or Longmeadow on Thursday, followed by a contest with D1 heavy Duxbury on Saturday.

One movement has Tewksbury/Methuen (16-0-2) moving up to the #2 spot after a week that saw victories over Waltham (7-4) and Concord-Carlisle (4-1). The Red Rangers have two regular season games left and both will be testers: Monday against Haverhill/Pentucket/North Andover (the two teams tied the first time around) and then Saturday against fourth-ranked Winchester.

#3 Wellesley (13-1-1) rallied late Sunday to tie Falmouth 2-2 in a rematch of last year’s state title game at the Cape Cod Classic. The Red Raiders also beat Framingham (3-1) and Natick (4-2). They continue at the Classic this week with games against Barnstable (Tuesday) and LaSalle, RI (Thursday).

Girls-Festival-Ad-300x250#4 Winchester (12-5-0) picked up a pair of shutout wins over Belmont (10-0) and Arlington (3-0). The Sachems will partake in the Newburyport Bank Classic this week playing Marblehead on Tuesday, and either Winthrop or Masconomet on Thursday prior to seeing Tewksbury/Methuen to close out their regular season slate.

Burlington (13-3-0) climbs a spot to #5 and has stretched its winning streak to 13 games. The Lady Devils defeated Wakefield (4-1) and Wilmington (7-1). They have a Monday matinee with Shrewsbury and then take on St. Mary’s Lynn on Saturday.

#6 Archbishop Williams (9-5-3) is now officially qualified for the post-season after a 7-1 win Sunday over Mt. St. Charles at the Cape Cod Classic, coming on the heels of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Fontbonne. The Bishops will see LaSalle, RI (Tuesday) and Falmouth (Thursday) as the Classic continues this vacation week.

#7 Milton (11-4-3) had a nice week with a 2-2 tie with Ursuline, followed by an 11-3 win over Brookline/Newton South and a 5-4 victory over Dedham. The Wildcats, whose 88 goals lead all of Division 2, look for a solid effort Tuesday against #1 Notre Dame at the Cougar Classic. Longmeadow or Austin Prep awaits on Thursday and then a good Medfield team on Saturday.

It was a rugged week for #8 Fontbonne (9-6-2). The Ducks tied up top-ranked Notre Dame (1-1), then lost to sixth-ranked Archbishop Williams (2-1) on a late goal. The Ducks have back-to-back games this week against Algonquin/Hudson (Wednesday) and Ursuline Academy (Thursday).

Matignon (13-0-5) stays put at #9. Its only action of the past week was a 0-0 standoff with Brookline/Newton South. The Warriors will put their unbeaten record on the line this week against Oakmont (Monday), Mansfield/Oliver Ames (Wednesday) and Bishop Stang (Friday).

And returning to the poll this week at #10 is defending D2 state champ Falmouth (11-5-2). The Clippers are on a 6-0-2 streak after beating Nauset (7-1) and then tying Wellesley (2-2) Sunday. Cape Cod Classic games await this week against Plymouth (Tuesday) and Archbishop Williams (Thursday) to close out the regular season.
