The weather postponed the much-anticipated battle today (Sunday) between the top two teams in the HNIB News Mass. Girls Division II poll until later this week, so we won’t find out for a few more days who will have the momentum heading into the post-season. The game has been rescheduled for Friday, February 20th at 10am at Falmouth Ice Arena.

So, #1 Wellesley (14-1-3) and #2 Falmouth (13-3-2) will remain in their same spots as we enter the final week of the regular season.

The Red Raiders posted a big 4-2 over Dedham and knocked off Natick, 7-1, after tying Milton 3-3 this week. They also have key non-league tilts this week against Barnstable (Tuesday) and LaSalle, RI (Thursday) at the Cape Cod Classic.

The Clippers had a very satisfying week, winning the SEMGHL Coastal crown with wins over D1 heavies Duxbury (6-1) and Barnstable (2-0). Their opponents this week at the Cape Cod Classic (in addition to Wellesley) are Warwick, RI (Tuesday) and Archbishop Williams (Thursday). Senior Kelly Ferreira eclipsed the 100-point career mark against Duxbury.

#3 Dedham (10-3-6) also tied Milton, 3-3, and beat Walpole, 2-1. The Marauders close their regular season with Needham on Monday.

#4 Archbishop Williams (14-3-2) lost to D1 power Arlington Catholic (4-1), then whitewashed NH’s Bishop Guertin (7-0) and tied Fontbonne (3-3). The Bishops will test themselves against both Warwick, RI (Monday) and LaSalle, RI (Tuesday) before the Falmouth game.

#5 Milton (14-3-3) is showing it will be a tough out come tourney time, as this week the Wildcats had those 3-3 ties with Wellesley and Dedham. A couple of non-league tests await this week: Medfield (Tuesday) and Hingham (Friday).

It will be a very busy final week for #6 Notre Dame of Hingham (9-2-3), which must squeeze in six games. The Cougars downed Fontbonne (5-1) in their only action of this week. Still left are games with Cathedral (Monday), Shrewsbury (Tuesday), Barnstable (Wednesday) and the Cougar Classic Thursday (Norwood) and Friday (either Austin Prep or Newton North), and a makeup with Masconomet (Sunday).

#7 Norwood (10-5-3) also has a busy week. In addition to the Cougar Classic, the Mustangs are scheduled to see Walpole (Monday) and Mansfield/Oliver Ames (Wednesday). They did beat Natick (8-2) in this week’s only result.

Buoyed by the scoring exploits of Amanda Conway, Tewksbury/Methuen (12-3-1) moves up to #8 after wins over Boston Latin (8-2) and Waltham (4-2). The Red Rangers finish up the regular season against Concord-Carlisle (Monday) and Haverhill/North Andover (Wednesday).

Reappearing in the poll at #9 is Burlington (12-5-0). The Red Devils were impressive this past week with wins over Arlington (4-0) Stoneham (7-2) and Wakefield (7-0). Three non-leaguers left are Masconomet (Monday), Shrewsbury (Wednesday) and Algonquin (Thursday).

Despite struggling the past two weeks, Fontbonne (10-6-3) remains in the poll at #10. The Ducks did tie Archbishop Williams Saturday (3-3) and wrap up the regular season Thursday vs. Ursuline.
