Mass. Girls D2 First Round: Medway/Ashland gets it done

Junior Gabby Airosus scored her second goal of the game with just 4.1 seconds left in overtime to give #22 Medway/Ashland a 5-4 win over host #6 Burlington, snapping the Lady Devils unbeaten streak at 17. Airosus also had two assists, while Ashley Fondo scored twice and had two assists, and senior Kerryann Goode had a goal and four assists. Burlington, which finishes at 15-4-2, had goals from Rylie Glennon, Katy Scott, Julia Swarbrick and Mary Cox. Medway/Ashland moves on to a quarterfinal matchup against Wellesley next Saturday at Gallo Arena (Bourne).

#3 Wellesley advanced with a 3-0 shutout win over Leominster/St. Bernards. Hannah MacDougall, Danielle Hickman and Carley Boyle had goals for the Red Raiders, who improved to 17-2-2. Leominster/St. Bernard’s finished at 9-5-5.

#7 Plymouth won its second straight playoff game via the shutout route, this time blanking Natick 4-0, led by Jordan Colbert‘s three goals. Jess Whyte also had a goal for Plymouth, now 17-4-1. Natick ends its season at 11-8-3.
