The regular season is over, tournament games get underway this week, and Arlington Catholic (17-2-1) is back in the same spot it started the season in the HNIB News Mass. Girls Division 1 Top Ten poll: #1.

The Cougars won a pair of big games at Hingham HS Classic to end the regular season, beating both Reading (3-2, for the second time this season) and Duxbury (2-1). They will be tough to beat in the post-season.

That loss to AC drops Reading (18-2-0) to the #2 spot as the post-season begins. The Rockets rebounded from that loss with a solid 5-1 win over Westford Academy and will be a D1 favorite as well.

#3 Barnstable (15-1-4) also closed with an impressive final week with wins over LaSalle, RI, Wellesley, Warwick, RI and Notre Dame. The Red Raiders are a legit threat as well.

Don’t look past #4 Austin Prep (15-3-2). The Cougars blanked Hingham today to close the regular season and are capable of beating anyone. They won the Cougar Classic with wins over Newton North and Norwood.

Also closing impressively was #5 Watertown/Belmont (18-3-1). The Maraiders had wins over Beverly/Danvers (4-2) and Winthrop/Lynn (6-2) to creep up to #5.

#6 Acton-Boxboro (15-3-3) is another team to fear come the post-season. The Colonials can match firepower with anyone.

Defending state champ Duxbury (13-5-2) starts this post-season in an unfamiliar role, not as one of the top couple of seeds. But, the Dragons have the tradition of excellence behind them and play their best hockey in the post-season. Coach Friend Weiler will have this group ready to go.

#8 Beverly/Danvers (13-5-1) will be a tough post-season opponent, as will #9 Andover (11-6-2) and #10 Westford Academy (10-6-3).
