Nemesis Falmouth did it again to Duxbury, beating the Dragons, 3-1, on the Saturday night to hand them their first loss of the year (Falmouth was responsible for Duxbury’s only loss last winter as well).

Arlington Catholic
As a result, Duxbury (6-1-1) drops to #2 in this week’s HNIB News Mass. Girls D-1 poll, while idle Arlington Catholic (7-1-0), off since a 5-0 win over Burlington on January 5th, moves back into the #1 spot.
The Cougars have a big week ahead, playing Billerica on Wednesday, and then heading to the Cape next weekend to take on Barnstable and Falmouth. Duxbury must contend with a solid Notre Dame of Hingham team on Tuesday, and then plays Hingham Saturday.
With wins over Arlington (4-0) and Winchester (3-2), Reading (7-1-0) moves up to the #3 spot. The only blemish on its record? a 1-0 loss to Arlington Catholic. The Rockets also have a big week, with improving Woburn (Wednesday) and Watertown/Belmont (Saturday).
#4 Acton-Boxboro (6-1-1) had a hiccup falling to Fontbonne, 3-2, but the Colonials rebounded with a 9-0 rout of Central Catholic. This week they get Westford Academy (Wednesday) and Lincoln-Sudbury (Saturday).
Barnstable (4-0-2) stays put at #5, as it is tough to move up with the caliber of teams above the Red Raiders in the poll. Barnstable had wins this week over Hingham and Canton and was tied by Notre Dame (2-2). Pembroke is up next on Wednesday, before Saturday’s showdown with AC.
The second half of the poll stayed intact from last week, starting with #6 Austin Prep (5-1-1). The Cougars only action this week was a 4-2 win over Algonquin. Wednesday they get the chance to avenge their only loss to date when they take on #7 Andover (6-1-2). The Golden Warriors beat Westwood (8-1), Westford Academy (2-1) and Central Catholic (7-1) this week.

Beverly/Danvers
#8 Watertown/Belmont (7-2-1) had an impressive week, chalking up wins over Needham (5-1), Stoneham (5-0) and Wilmington (7-0). A non-leaguer with Medford awaits Monday and the Maraiders have Melrose on Wednesday before taking on Reading.
#9 Winthrop/Lynn (6-0-0) is still perfect on the season, and should be favored in all of its contests this week with Wayland/Weston (Monday), Marblehead (Wednesday) and Masconomet (Saturday).
After falling 2-1 to Winthrop/Lynn, #10 Beverly/Danvers (5-2-1) most recently doubled up on Marblehead, 8-4. Senior forward Kristen McCarthy joined the 100-point club.
