Mass Division 2 Highlights: Beverly survives, Lincoln-Sudbury tied up

– Top-ranked Beverly (12-0-1) had all it could handle in a non-league affair with Division I foe Westford Academy. But, the Panthers got it done, scoring three goals in the third period for a 4-2 win. Connor Irving tipped home a Nick Albano slap shot with 57 seconds left for the winning goal, then added an insurance empty-netter. Jake Straw and Graham Doherty also had goals for Beverly.

– #2 Lincoln-Sudbury (8-1-3) had to rally from an early 2-0 deficit and settle for a 2-2 tie with Peabody.  Goals by Matt Pino and Jason Marshall staked the Tanners to the early two-goal lead, but the Warriors came back on goals from Eric Holden and Jacob Sacher to grab a point.

– Marblehead travelled out to the Olympia in West Springfield to take on WMass power Agawam. The Headers dominated, outshooting Agawam 54-12. Matt Koopman scored two goals, and Cam MacDonald and Eric Powers each contributed an assist.

– Division II scoring leader Tyson Araujo had a seven-point game (two goals, five assists) and Brian Fraser had  a hat trick and two assists as Martha’s Vineyard doubled up Dennis-Yarmouth, 8-4. Andrew Wiley, Andrew Carroll and Austin Morley also scored for the Vineyarders. Araujo now has a 15-22-37 line.
