Newburyport
– In a game that went back and forth, senior Jason Arnaud had the game-winner midway through the third period as No. 10 Chelmsford squeezed past No. 2 Newburyport, the Cape Ann League champion, 5-4. The Lions also got two goals from Derek Adamson and single tallies by Charles McKelvey and Jimmy Connelly. Newburyport goal-scorers were Scott Webster, Matt Kelleher, Mark Babcock and Ben Ventura. The Clippers finished 15-5-2. Chelmsford takes on Arlington in Thursday’s semifinal.
– No. 3 Arlington spotted No. 6 St. Mary’s a 1-0 lead early in the second period, then responded with two goals later in the period for a 2-1 win. Mike Desmond gave St.Mary’s the lead, assisted by Mike Zampanti. The Spy Ponders’ Justin DeMarco countered with the equalizer immediately after an Arlington power play expired and Peter Scheschareg notched the game-winner late in the period.
