Some Highlights from mid-week action in Massachusetts Division 1 hockey:

* No. 12 St. John’s of Shrewsbury made an impressive debut in the Catholic Conference as it squeezed past reigning champion No. 3 Catholic Memorial, 3-2. The Knights led after one half – the league is one of several playing halves this season – on goals by Mike Birch and Mike Spinelli (assist). However the Saints rallied after the break with Brett Edgren netting the game-winner at 18:22. Jason Spigelman and Evan Parente also scored for SJS while Ryan Dalida made 33 saves. Dom Walecka had 23 saves for CM, now 0-2.

*No. 2 BC High continued its hot start in the Catholic Conference with its 5-2 win against No. 4 Xaverian. Ryan Flaherty scored twice, Aidan McDonnell had a goal and an assist, Jackie Murphy and Brendan Burke both scored, and James Marshall had two assists for the Eagles. Max Lockwood scored both Xaverian goals.

Arlington Catholic

*In the Catholic Central Large, Ty Wood secured a 3-3 tie for No. 7 Austin Prep against No. 6 St. Mary’s of Lynn with 2:30 remaining in the third period. The Spartans had taken a 3-2 lead earlier in the period when Brady Bullock (2 goals) and Dave D’Ambrosio both scored with the teams skating four aside. Colby Magliozzi added two assists for the Spartans.

* Carson Priante scored a pair of goals and Nolan Mallett and Myles Galuzzo each had one to fuel a comeback effort in Arlington Catholic’s 4-2 win over Bishop Feehan. Will Jones and Peter Carriuolo had staked the Shamrocks to a 2-0 lead.

*Interim coach Ben Murphy picked up his first win and Dan Allen netted his first varsity goal as Duxbury edged Plymouth South, 4-3. TJ Jones and Billy Mrowka also had goals for the Green Dragons.
