Mass. D-1 Highlights: B.C. High handles CM

– No. 1 B.C. High (5-0-1, 11-0-3) took a major step toward a Catholic Conference championship Monday with a 4-1 win against No. 2 Catholic  Memorial (3-1-1, 9-3-2) in the annual Edward Wright MD Memorial Game at Conte Forum.

The Eagles spotted the Knights a 1-0 lead on a Zack Sullivan goal but Pat Kramer and Steve DeForge countered with power play strikes to put the Eagles in front to stay. Tim Larocque and Pat Riley also scored and sophomore defenseman Ryan Shea was awarded the Wright Memorial Award. B.C. High had a large territorial advantage and CM goalie Brandon Collett kept the Knights close with 25 saves.


The Eagles can clinch a league title tie with a win against No. 3 Malden Catholic Saturday (Malden Valley Forum, 1). B.C. High takes on No. 11 St. John’s of Shrewsbury Wednesday (NESC, 7) while CM faces No. 18 Braintree (Zapustas, 7).
