In a battle of 3-0-0 teams on New Year’s Eve day, Middlesex League Liberty Division foes Winchester and Reading faced off at Burbank Arena.

Scoreless into the third period, the Red & Black broke the ice early in the third period, and added an empty-netter to seal a 2-0 win over the Rockets.

Sophomore Dan Collins scored the only goal Winchester would need 4:54 into the third period, burying a shot past Reading goalie from the slot. Liam Doherty assisted on the goal.

Winchester picked up its offensive game in the second period, and also killed off two third-period penalties.

Next up for Winchester is undefeated Belmont on Wednesday, while Reading travels to face Woburn.
