Buckle up folks. The MIAA Boys Division 1 Tournament is around the corner and promises to be a battle. Several coaches have remarked about the parity this year. While there are a handful of teams who you would deem a favorite to go all the way, there are others who could emerge as a state champion.

St. John’s Prep (17-3-0) holds on to the #1 ranking in the final regular season HNIB News Massachusettts Boys Division 1 Top 20. The Eagles got past #10 Franklin 3-1 to close out the year in a close game.

#2 Xaverian (15-4-1) rallied from three goals down to tie #7 Marshfield (17-3-3, 16-3-3 MIAA). #3 Catholic Memorial (13-5-3, 13-4-3 MIAA) comes into the post-season playing some good hockey.

Defending champion Pope Francis (16-6-0, 16-5-0 MIAA) won its own Cardinal Classic this week and appears ready to mount a serious defense. #5 Archbishop Williams (16-4-1) won the Buddy Ferreira Classic in a double OT thriller over #8 Reading (16-5-1, 15-5-1 MIAA).

#6 Arlington (16-3-3) also closed strong and will be a major factor in the post-season. And never count out #9 Hingham (13-7-2).
