As the regular season enters its final few days, Scituate (14-4-2), which last played on Feb. 13 and defeated Barnstable, 3-2, takes over in the #1 spot in this week’s HNIB News Boys Division 3 Top 10. The Sailors open Gould Tournament play Monday against Pembroke.
Medfield moves into the #2 position after edging Hopkinton, 4-3, and defeating Assabet Valley, 5-2. A non-leaguer with Northbridge on Wednesday closes out the Warriors’ regular season.
#3 Lynnfield, which has been in the top spot for most of the season, bowed to Hopkinton, 4-1 in the opening round of the Fairleigh Dickinson Tournament, but recovered with an 8-2 win against Hudson in the consolation game. The Pioneers also defeated Bishop Fenwick, 4-1.
#4 Nauset picked up a pair of wins, 2-0 against Dennis-Yarmouth and 4-1 over Nantucket. Mashpee/Monomoy (Monday) and Martha’s Vineyard (Wednesday) close it out for the Warriors.
5 Marboro earned a 2-1 win against Auburn/Milbury and a 3-1 win against Groton-Dunstable and are in CMADA Tournament play this week.
#6 Watertown defeated Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk, 5-0, Stoneham, 4-3 and Lowell Catholic, 3-1, taking the Spartan Cup title along the way.
#7 Essex Tech (17-1-2) secured a share of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference title with a 1-1 tie with Lowell Catholic. The Hawks also defeated Hamilton-Wenham, 9-1.
Methuen Lost to Dover-Sherborn/Weston, 4-1 and defeated Amesbury, 7-5.
Dracut/Tyngsboro defeated Lowell in its only game and gets it crack against Dover-Sherborn/Weston Monday.
And Hanover makes a re-appearance in the rankings this week, its most recent result a 4-2 win over D2 Whitman-Hanson.
