Mass. Boys HS Hockey – Division 2 Top 10: Status Quo In Top Half; Algonquin Makes An Appearance

#1 Tewksbury remains at the of the top of the latest HNIB News Massachusetts Boys Division 2 Top 10 after two big wins in the Gorham (ME) Holiday Classic. The Redmen are (5-0-0) and have outscored opponents, 33-4.

They look ahead to Lincoln-Sudbury on Saturday. Tewksbury will also face New Jersey’s Northern Highlands HS in a scrimmage at Fenway Park on Wednesday.

Canton (5-0-0) holds down the #2 spot as it remains unbeaten on the season. The Bulldogs beat Westwood 4-1 and Wakefield 5-3 this week.

#3 Silver Lake (6-1-0) had a strong week winning the Cashman Tournament with a 5-0 win over Rockland and closed out the new year beating Abington 5-2.

#4 Walpole had a quiet week playing just one game, but it was a big one as they beat Norwood 3-2.

Duxbury (4-2-2) stays in the #5 spot as they had a solid week winning three games and tying one. The Dragons stunned Hingham 4-2 on Monday, after taking the title in the ICO Cup over holiday week, They have a big week coming up with games against Pembroke and Marshfield.

Plymouth South (5-1-0) moves up to #6 this week as their strong start to the season continued. The Panthers won all three games they played this past week. They face rival Plymouth North (Wednesday and North Quincy (Saturday).

Westwood comes in at #7 this week. The Wolvernines lost their only game of the past week, but played well against #2 Canton.  

Algonquin (4-2) enters the rankings in the #8 spot as they had a big win over Marlboro 5-3 to win the Daily News Cup. The Titans face Minnechaug on Saturday.

Hopkinton (5-1) moves up one spot to #9. The Hillers beat Hudson in the Daily News Cup consolation game.

Rounding out our top 10 is newcomer Whitman-Hanson (4-3-0) which is coming off two big wins this week over Abington and Oliver Ames.
