No. 1 Xaverian (5-0-0) of the Catholic Conference keeps rolling along at the top this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Division 1 Top 20. The Hawks soared to the Pat Serio Cup championship, blitzing St. John’s of Shrewsbury, 7-1, before shutting out Marshfield in the title game, 2-0.

Kevin Parrish and Brock Casey scored in the title game and Kevin Richardi (14 saves) netted the shutout.

No. 2 Arlington (5-0-0) is off and running in the Middlesex Liberty. The Spy Ponders stopped Woburn Sunday, 4-1. They head to Winchester for a huge contest on Saturday.

No. 3 Pope Francis (3-2-0) defeated Braintree, 4-2, on Dec. 29 and isn’t scheduled to play again until Jan. 15.

No. 4 Catholic Memorial (4-0-0) of the Catholic Conference won the Catholic Memorial Tournament, doubling Notre Dame of West Haven (CT), 6-3, in the semifinals before demolishing Bp. Fenwick, 10-0, in the title game behind Ty Magliozzi’s hat trick.

No. 5 St. John’s Prep (2-1-0) of the Catholic Conference kicks off a 3-game week Monday against New Hampshire stalwart Bishop Guertin  before trips to Austin Prep and Xaverian on Wednesday and Saturday.

No. 6 Braintree (3-1-0) lof the Bay State Herget. lost its first to PF. The Wamps are scheduled to take on Needham at home on Wednesday.

No. 7 Belmont (8-0-0) won last week’s Salem NH Christmas Tournament with three wins in three days, including shutouts of Londonderry and Pinkerton. The Marauders handled Franklin Sunday, 4-1, and return to league play vs. Winchester and Reading this week.

In addition to Wednesday’s match with SJP, No. 8 Austin Prep (2-0-0) also visits league foe Arlington Catholic on Saturday.

No. 9 Winchester (4-0-0) of the Middlesex Liberty, fresh off a big win over Reading, takes on Belmont and Arlington this week, a rugged two-game set for sure.

No. 10 Reading (3-1-0) of the Middlesex Liberty heads toWoburn Wednesday and is home against Belmont Saturday.

No. 11  Hingham (3-2-0) had Monday’s game with Catholic Memorial postponed and will ready for a Wednesday date with St. John’s (S).

No. 12 Waltham (2-1-1) of the MVC/DCL One expects to resume action this week against Billerica and Shrewsbury after nearly 15 days off.

No. 13 Andover (2-2-0) of the MVC/DCL One squares off with Westford Academy and Central Catholic this week

No. 14 Woburn (4-1-0) of the Middlesex Libertyhaditsseason-opening four-game winning streak snapped by Arlington Sunday, 4-1.

No. 15 Marshfield (3-2-1) dropped two straight—the Pat Serio Cup final to Xaverian, 2-0, then 2-1 to Hingham. The Rams face Plymouth North and North Quincy this week.

No. 16 Malden Catholic (4-1-0) of the Catholic Conference tripped up Weymouth Sunday and doesn’t play again until Jan. 12.

No. 17 BC High (2-3-1) of the Catholic Conference faces an empty week after losing to Arlington and tying St, Mary’s. The Eagles get a crack at top-ranked Xaverian next on Jan. 12.

No. 18 St Mary’s (3-2-2) of the Catholic Conference Large earned that impressive non-league tie against BC High on Sunday.

No. 19 Falmouth (5-0-1) of the Cape & Islands Atlantic and No. 20 Franklin (4-4-0) of the Hockomock Kelley-Rex complete this week’s rankings.
