Showing no ill-effects from a 10-day layoff, #1 Canton (4-0-0) blanked Westwood 4-0 Saturday, solidifying its hold on the top spot in this week’s Massachusetts Boys D2 Top 15. The Bulldogs have allowed just three goals in their four wins. They will see Attleboro (Wednesday) and then Mansfield (Saturday).

#2 Lincoln-Sudbury (4-1-0) fell from the unbeaten ranks with Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Winchester, but remains firm as they played the D1 power well. The Warriors have two road games this week, at Cambridge (Wednesday) and at Methuen (Saturday).

Idle Medfield (3-0-1) actually moves up a spot to #3. These Warriors remain off until a Saturday encounter with Ashland.

Andrew Gotts

It is another week on the move for #5 Marblehead (6-0-0), which remained perfect, taking the Cape Ann Savings Bank tourney crown with wins over Westfield (3-1) and Gloucester (8-3). The Headers play Beverly Wednesday then have a key battle with #6 Winthrop (4-2-0) on Saturday at Winthrop.

The Vikings dropped a decision to Falmouth (ME) before rebounding for a win over Lynn Saturday (5-4). They are at Medford on Wednesday.

#7 Tewksbury (5-1) had another successful trip to Maine, sweeping three games, allowing just three goals in the process. Dracut/Tyngsboro (Wednesday) and Boston Latin (Saturday) provide this week’s opposition.

#8 Oliver Ames (5-2-0) fell to Hanover in the finals of the Matignon Christmas Invitational and drops a bit to #8. The Tigers face off with Franklin (Wednesday) and Foxboro (Saturday).

Stoneham (3-2-0) slides to #9 this week. The Spartans did beat Groton-Dunstable (3-1) during the week. They look to get things going Saturday against a solid Melrose team.

Wilmington (4-2-0) cracks the top 10 after winning the Hillies Christmas Tournament with victories over Coyle Cassidy (7-5) and Chelmsford (4-1). The Wildcats host Burlington on Saturday.

Newcomers to this week’s poll are North Andover (5-2-1) at #13 and Quincy at #14 (5-1-0).
