Massachusetts Boys D2 Top 15
There was some movement in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Boys D2 Top 15, although the first four teams remain intact.
#1 Canton (6-0-0) continues to roll on all cylinders. The Bulldogs had shutout wins over Attleboro (9-0) and Mansfield (4-0) as they opened up Hockomock League play. On the docket this week are King Philip (Wednesday) and Oliver Ames (Saturday).
Holding serve at #2 is Lincoln-Sudbury (6-1-0). The Warriors picked up a pair of wins over Cambridge (6-3) and Methuen (6-0). A key battle looms Wednesday with Tewksbury before a non-leaguer with Longmeadow (Saturday).
#3 Medfield (4-0-1) returned to action after a layoff and edged Ashland 3-2 Saturday. The Warriors have a couple of tough TVL matchups ahead with Dedham (Wednesday) and Westwood (Saturday).
Masconomet (6-1-0) remains solid at #4 after Cape Ann League wins over Lynnfield (6-3) and Triton (3-1). The Chieftains continue league play against Pentucket (Wednesday) and North Reading (Saturday).
#5 Winthrop (6-2-0) and #6 Marblehead (7-1-0) flip-flop spots after the Vikings handed the Magicians their first loss Saturday 3-2 behind Luke Evangelista’s hat trick. The Vikings are set to take on #10 Danvers (3-1-2) Tuesday. Marblehead looks to return to its winning ways with Saugus on Wednesday and Peabody Saturday.
Oliver Ames (6-3-0) is at #7. The Tigers followed up a tough loss to Franklin (4-2) with win Saturday over Foxboro (3-0), Before seeing Canton, OA gets Stoughton on Wednesday.
#8 Wilmington (4-3-0) and #9 Stoneham (3-3-0) will face off this Saturday (Stoneham Arena, 4pm). All three of Wilmington’s losses have come to D1 opponents. Stoneham gave unbeaten Melrose all it could handle on Saturday in a 4-3 loss.
#12 Quincy (7-1-0) keeps on winning, knocking off Pembroke (6-3) and Whitman-Hanson (5-2). The Presidents will see Cohasset on Wednesday before a huge battle with Hanover on Saturday.
New to this week’s rankings is Gloucester (6-2-1) at #15. The Fishermen have scored the most goals in the Division (51).
