Maine Class B Top 10
Maine Class B saw two of the hottest teams reach the state championship game in the Brunswick Dragons and the Camden Hills Windjammers.
Brunswick ended the season on a 12-game win streak to capture the Class B title with a 2-0 win over Camden Hills. Brunswick also finishes the year as the top team in the HNIB News Class B Top 10. They also had wins over Gorham, Cheverus/Yarmouth, and Greely to reach the state championship game.
No. 2 Camden Hills went 9-3 in its final 12 games including capturing the Class B North regional championship with a 5-2 win over Hampden Academy. The Windjammers also beat Gardiner and John Bapst/Hermon/Bangor Christian/Deer Isle-Stonington in the playoffs.
No. 3 Hampden Academy had playoff wins over Presque Isle and Orono/Old Town before losing to Camden Hills in the regional final.
No. 4 Greely had wins over Kennebunk/Wells and Cape Elizabeth in its playoff run but fell short in the B South regional final 6-4 to Brunswick.
No. 5 Old Town/Orono had a 3-1 win against Brewer/Searsport in the Class B North regional quarterfinals before losing to Hampden Academy in the regional semifinals.
No. 6 Yarmouth/Cheverus lost a heart-breaker in the Class B South semifinals losing 4-3 to Brunswick in five overtimes. Cheverus/Yarmouth defeated York 5-1 in OT in the quarters.
No. 7 Cape Elizabeth defeated Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester 5-0 in the B South quarterfinals before losing to Greely 3-1 in the semifinals.
No. 8 Gardiner defeated Maranacook/Winthrop/Hall-Dale/Spruce Mountain/Lawrence 4-1 in the B North prelims before upsetting the top-seeded Messalonskee Eagles 3-2 in the quarterfinals. Gardiner lost 9-1 to Camden Hills in the regional semifinals.
No. 9 Messalonskee‘s season came to an end against Gardiner. No. 10 Cape Elizabeth defeated Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester season came to an end with a home loss to Cape Elizabeth in the B South quarterfinals.
