Maine HS Highlights: Lewiston Rally Sinks Bangor

Class A

 Lewiston 3, Bangor 2

The Lewiston Blue Devils scored three times in the final 3:08 of the contest as they defeated Bangor 3-2. Sam Payne got the Blue Devils on the board before Ben St. Laurent tied it up. Ryan Pomerleau scored with 33 seconds remaining for the victory. Bangor got second period goals from Zach Burpee and Josh SherwoodShawn Chabot made 16 saves in the victory while Jacob Henry made 28 saves.

Edward Little 5, Bangor 2 

Zachary Cowperthwaite and Nick Boudreau each had two goals as Bangor defeated Edward Little 5-2. Josh Sherwood also had a goal for the Rams. Gunnar Winslow and Ben Cassidy each scored for the Red Eddies. Jacob Henry made 19 saves for Bangor while Devon D’Auteuil made 15 saves and Gavin Toussaint made two saves for the Red Eddies.

St. Dom’s 5, Falmouth 4, OT

Will Fletcher scored twice, including the overtime winner, as the St. Dom’s Saints rallied back from a 4-2 deficit to defeat Falmouth 5-4. The winning goal was scored 65 seconds into overtime. Dominic Chasse had a goal and three assists for the Saints, while Derek Wolverton had a goal and two assists. Lucas Pushard also scored for the Saints, and Alex Roy made 21 saves in the victory. The Yachtsmen were led by Garrett Tracy, who had two goals and an assist. Tyler Baker had two goals and Sam Kidder made 39 saves.

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 6, Windham/Westbrook 1

Ian Struck had four goals and an assist as Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde defeated Windham/Westbrook. Noah Austin added a goal and two assists, which puts him at 47 points this season and 150 points in his career. Hunter Merryman also scored for the Eagles, and Sean Moore made 16 saves.Windham/Westbrook’s goal came off the stick of Travis Brown. Sean While made 27 saves.

Mt.Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 7, Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills 4

Noah Austin factored in every goal for for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde in a 7-4 boys’ hockey victory over Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills on Thursday night. Austin tallied seven points, a new career high for a single game, with a hat trick and four assists.Ian Struck also had a hat trick for the Eagles, while Alex Witwicki chipped in with a goal and two assists. Sean Moore made 20 saves in the win. Ed Thurston scored a pair for the Ice Cats, who also got a goal and an assist apiece from Colby Turcotte and Will Galligan. Graham Payne stopped 27 shots in goal.

South Portland

South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete 5, Lewiston 1

Dustin Lappin paced South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete with a hat trick in a 5-1 victory over Lewiston. Dylan Houle and Eric Walker also had goals in the victory. Kurtis Pelletier gave Lewiston a 1-0 early in the first period. Liam McGibbon made 24 saves in the win while Jacob Smith stopped 16 shots in the loss.

Class B

 Presque Isle 4, Hampden Academy 1

Jonah Roy and Jake Stevens carried Presque Isle with a goal and an assist each in a 4-1 victory over Hampden Academy. Colby Bonville and Colby Carlisle also had goals for the Wildcats. Andre Daigle made 16 saves in the win. Owen Cross scored the Broncos lone goal while Evan Thomas made 24 saves.

Kohle Parker
Old Town/Orono

Old Town/Orono 5, Camden Hills 2

Tyler McCannell and Zach Needham each had a pair of goals in Old Town/Orono’s 5-2 victory over Camden Hills. Trent Lick had a goal and assist while Kohle Parker made 10 saves. Bryce Tyler and Dylan Hasting scored for the Windjammers. Jackson Bernier made 19 saves.

Class A/B

Portland/Deering 4, Cape Elizabeth 3

Jacob Luce played the role of hero as he tied the game and scored the game winner in overtime as Portland/Deering defeated Cape Elizabeth 4-3. Carlos Braceras and Max Cheever each potted goals for Portland/Deering. Philip Tarling carried the Capers offense with two goals while Gavin Simopoulos had a goal in the loss.
