Maine Class A Top 10: Lewiston still paces the pack as regular season winds down

No. 1 Lewiston registered a 2-1 win over Thornton Academy on Monday followed up by an 8-0 win over Cony/Hall-Dale/Monday on Tuesday. They host Biddeford on Wednesday in the regular-season finale.

No. 2 Falmouth has completed the regular season and will be interested bystanders in the Lewiston-Biddeford game. If Biddeford wins it should knock the Yachtsmen down to No. 3 in the Class A playoff seeding. Falmouth will have to play a quarterfinal playoff game while the Tigers draw a bye.

No. 3 Cheverus all but locked up the No. 1 seed in the Class A South playoffs with a 3-0 win over York on Thursday. They travel to Scarborough on Wednesday.

No. 4 Biddeford defeated Portland/Deering 3-2 on Thursday and fashioned a 4-1 victory over St. Dom’s on Saturday. Their only game is a visit to Lewiston on Wednesday.

No. 5 Edward Little started the week with a 2-1 loss on Monday but bounced back with a 6-5 win over Poland/Gray New-Gloucester/Oak Hill/Leavitt on Wednesday. They host Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season.

No. 6 Bangor dropped a 3-1 decision to St. Dom’s on Tuesday before defeating Cony/Hall/Dale/Monmouth 4-2 on Friday. They travel to Poland/Gray New-Gloucester/Oak Hill/Leavitt on Wednesday.

No. 7 Poland/Gray New-Gloucester/Oak Hill/Leavitt bounced back from the 6-5 loss to EL on Wednesday with a 4-1 win over Windham/Westbrook on Saturday. Before hosting Bangor on Wednesday, they travel to Bangor to face John Bapst on Monday.

No. 8 Thornton Academy rebounded from the loss to Lewiston with a 6-1 win over Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard on Thursday. They travel to Lewiston on Monday to face Scarborough and face Windham/Westbrook on the road Wednesday.

No. 9 St. Dom’s moves up to No. 9 with the 3-1 victory over Bangor before dropping the 4-1 decision to Biddeford. They host Greely on Wednesday.

No. 10 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete re-enters the poll with a 7-1 win over Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard. Their regular season ends Monday as they travel to Windham/Westbrook.
