Maine Class A Regional Finals: Lewiston, Biddeford both work overtime for titles, will meet in state final Saturday

Class A North

Lewiston 2, St. Dom’s 1 (OT)

Gunnar Wade gave Lewiston their third straight Class A North regional championship, scoring 1:28 into overtime as the Blue Devils defeated archrival St. Dom’s 2-1.

It was an unassisted effort as he blocked a shot standing up and got around a St. Dom’s defender at his own blue line where he had Sam Frechette streaking down center ice on a 2-on-1. He fired the puck at the left circle that beat Gaston Fuksa blocker side.

The Saints tied the game with a little over five minutes remaining when Dominic Chasse chipped the puck to Jaden Webster who beat Conrad Albert.

Ryan Bosse gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead in the first period. Lewiston thought they had a 2-0 lead in first as Dustin Larochelle tried to jam homethe  puck. After review it was deemed the puck didn’t cross the line.

Albert stopped 17 shots for Lewiston while Fuksa made 37 saves.

Class A South

Biddeford 6, Cheverus 5  (2OT)

Colin Petit was the hero for Biddeford with his goal with 1:35 remaining in the second overtime as the Tigers defeated the Cheverus Stags 6-5 in a wild Class A South regional final. The assist was from his cousin Curtis Petit.

Ian Couture led the Tigers with a hat trick while Nick McSorely and Trevor Ouellette each had a goal apiece. Ouellette’s goal sent the game into overtime as he scored with 32 seconds remaining in regulation.

Cam Dube had a pair of goals for the Stags while Colby Anton, Justin Ray and Jackson Wilson also finding the back of the net.

Owen Sullivan made 31 saves for the Tigers while Jason Halverson made 29 saves in the loss.
