Maine Class B Top 10: Cheverus Keeps A Firm Grip On Top Spot

The Cheverus Stags remain the No. 1 team in Class B with a 7-3 win over Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester. The Stags travel up to Brunswick, host Cape Elizabeth on Thursday and face Portland/Deering on Saturday.

No. 2 Hampden Academy was idle this week and returns to action on Jan. 7 against Maranacook/Winthrop/Madison/Spruce Mountain/Lawrence.

No. 3 Greely stayed put with a 7-1 win over Kennebunk/Wells on Monday. The Rangers face Falmouth on Wednesday and travel to Scarborough on Saturday.

No. 4 Gorham took care of York, 10-1, on Christmas Eve in its lone regular-season game of the week. On Monday the Rams host Yarmouth and face Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle on Friday.

No. 5 Messalonskee had its game with Presque Isle postponed. It was the lone scheduled game for the Eagles, who travel to Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble this coming Saturday.

No. 6 Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth moves up with a 5-4 victory over Brewer on Saturday. In the lone game of the upcoming week, the Rams host Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester on Saturday.

No. 7 Camden Hills defeated Gardiner 3-1 on Saturday. The Windjammers host Old Town/Orono on Wednesday and Brunswick on Saturday.

No. 8 York tumbled with a 10-1 loss to Gorham on Tuesday. The Wildcats took part in the Heuchling & Swift Memorial Classic this past weekend at the University of New Hampshire losing two games to Oyster River (NH) 7-3 and Martha’s Vineyard (MA) 5-1. This week they face Cape Elizabeth on Saturday.

The Old Town/Orono Black Bears enter the rankings at No. 9 with a 8-1 win over Waterville/Winslow on Saturday. This week they face Camden Hills on Wednesday while hosting Gardiner on Saturday.

No. 10 Presque Isle  defeated Cape Elizabeth Saturday 8-2. This week the Wildcats host Waterville/Winslow on Friday before traveling down to Maranacook/Winthrop/Madison/Spruce Mountain/Lawrence on Saturday.
