Maine Class B Regional Semifinals: Cape Elizabeth, Greely, Old Town/Orono, Waterville/Winslow All Winners

Class B South

Cape Elizabeth 6, Brunswick 4

Philip Tarling had two goals to pace the No. 2 Cape Elizabeth Capers past the No. 6 Brunswick Dragons 6-4 in a Class B South semifinal. Gavin Simopoulos had a goal and two assists. Jacob Doring had two goals for the Dragons. Tarling opened the scoring for Cape Elizabeth with Matthew Laughlin notching the assist at the 1:50 mark.

Jack St. Pierre tied it for Brunswick at the 6:15 mark, but the game only remained tied for 34 seconds as Brady Eavenson gave the Capers a 2-1 lead. George Roy-Becker stretched the lead out to 3-1 with 1:48 remaining in the first period. Doring scored to get within one for the Dragons at the 2:40 mark of the second period. Isaac Burtis tied the game on the power play at the 5:13 mark. Andrew Carroll scored 2:56 into the third period to give Cape Elizabeth a 4-3 lead. With under five minutes to go in regulation, Doring tied the game up. Simopoulos scored the game winner with 1:48 remaining in the contest on the man advantage. Tarling added the empty netter. Garrett Mello made 21 saves for victory while Spencer Marquis made 19.

 Greely 10, Gorham 1

No. 1 seeded Greely Rangers defeated the No. 5 Gorham Rams as Andy Moore recorded a hat trick in the Class B South regional semifinal victory. Jake MacDonald and Jackson Williams each had had two goals for the Rangers . Rounding out the Greely goal scorers were Peter Lattanzi, Alex Wallace and Chris Williams.  The only shot Greely goalie Jared Swisher didn’t stop was Nick Gray’s which deflected off a Greely defenseman in the second period. Swisher made 25 saves. Caleb Waterman and Giuseppe Brown combined to make 25 saves for Gorham.

Class B North

 Waterville/Winslow 6, Presque Isle 5

Zach Menoudarakos played the role of hero as his slap shot found the back of the net; just past the midway point of the overtime session to give the No. 2 Waterville/Winslow Riverhawks a 6-5 victory over No. 3 Presque Isle Wildcats. The Riverhawks move onto the Class B North regional final with the win in the semifinal. Nate Newgard had three goals for Waterville/Winslow while Tom Tibbetts added a pair of goals of his own. Thomas Patenaude paced the Wildcats with a hat trick of his own while Gage Letourneau had a pair of goals. Ben Grenier made 24 saves for the win while Andre Daigle made 20 saves for Presque Isle.

Old Town/Orono

Old Town/Orono 4, Camden Hills 1

Four different Coyotes scored as No. 1 Old Town/Orono defeated No. 4 Camden Hills 4-1 in a Class B North semifinal. Trent Lick opened the scoring for the Coyotes as he scored the lone goal in the opening period. Cam Towe and Tyler McCannell stretch the lead out to 3-the middle frame. Chase Campbell scored at the end of the third on the power play. Dylan Hastings scored early in the third period for the Windjammers in the loss. Aiden Rand stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced for the victory. William Gardner and Jackson Bernier combined to make 24 saves in the losing effort.
