Maine Class B Poll
Camden Hills had a tough week after spending much of the year in Hockey Night In Boston’s Maine Class B poll ranked second behind Messalonskee. They lost to Messalonskee on Wednesday and dropped a contest to the Gorham Rams, 3-2 on Saturday night.
With four games remaining on the schedule, they have key Western B contests against Maranacook/Winthrop on Wednesday and Yarmouth on Saturday.
On the flip side the Greely Rangers, who played a tough schedule that includes many of the top teams in Class A, are finally finding their form. They sit as the No. 1 seed in the Western Class B playoffs if they were start today. They picked up wins this past week over Kennebunk and York. They have two big games upcoming this week against Yarmouth on Thursday and Messalonskee, a match-up circled on many calendars at the beginning of the season.
Speaking of the Messalonskee Eagles, in addition to their win against Camden Hills, they defeated Hampden Academy on Monday and Winslow on Saturday. They also have four games remaining. In addition to their game against Greely this week, they travel up to Houlton/Hodgdon on Monday.
Both Waterville and Presque Isle, who are chasing Messalonskee in the Eastern B standings, only have two games remaining on the schedule. The Purple Panthers split games this week, losing to John Bapst 3-2 and defeating Orono/Old Town 5-0 on Friday. They have this week off before facing Camden Hills and Messalonskee the following week.
Presque Isle defeated Brewer 3-2 on Friday and Hampden Academy 7-4 on Saturday. They face rival Houlton/Hodgdon on Wednesday.
The Gorham Rams have been playing well all season long and they continued their winning ways against Camden Hills on Saturday. They also had a game against Yarmouth postponed on Wednesday due to the snowstorm. This week they have games against York, Westbrook and Cape Elizabeth.
Yarmouth cruised to a 10-1 victory over Westbrook on Thursday and lost a heart breaker to Cape Elizabeth on Saturday evening. As mentioned they have a game against Greely this week and Camden Hills.
Cape Elizabeth is finally picking up victories after being snakebitten at the beginning of the year in one-goal games. In their lone game of the week they defeated Yarmouth 5-4 and have Gorham this week.
