Maine Class A Top 10
Lewiston maintains its No. 1 spot in this week’s HNIB News Maine Class A Top 10 with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Bangor on Saturday. They started the week on Wednesday as South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete handed Lewiston its second straight loss with a 5-1 victory. The Blue Devils travel to Biddeford on Saturday.
Despite the loss to Lewiston, Bangor maintain the No. 2 spot with a 5-2 victory over Edward Little on Wednesday. After a four game road trip, Bangor returns home Monday to take on Gardiner and Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale on Wednesday. They are back on the road Saturday against Lawrence/Skowhegan/MCI.
No. 3 Biddeford came away with a 9-2 victory over Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble on Wednesday before dropping a 6-5 decision to Falmouth Saturday. They travel to South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete Thursday before wrapping up the regular season Saturday against Lewiston.
No. 5 Edward Little bounced from its loss to Bangor with a 5-0 victory over Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde on Saturday. They travel to Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale on Saturday.
No. 6 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete also defeated Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble 10-2 on Saturday and moves up a few spots in this week’s rankings. They host Biddeford Thursday and travel to Scarborough Saturday.
No. 7 Thornton Academy started the week with a 2-0 win over Scarborough on Tuesday before losing to South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete 3-1 on Wednesday and 6-4 to Greely on Saturday. They travel to Cheverus on Thursday and host Portland/Deering on Saturday.
No. 8 Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde defeated Windham/Westbrook 6-1 on Wednesday and Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills 7-4 on Thursday before losing to EL on Saturday. They close out the regular season Saturday against St. Dom’s.
No. 9 Scarborough bounced back from the 2-0 loss to Thornton with a 5-0 victory over Cheverus and a 6-1 victory over Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills on Saturday. They travel to Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble on Monday before hosting South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Saturday.
N0. 10 Portland/Deering defeated Cape Elizabeth 4-3 Thursday before losing to St. Dom’s 5-1 on Saturday. They travel to Thornton Academy Saturday.
