Maine Class A Top 10: Lewiston survives rivalry week, remains undefeated

No. 1 Lewiston survived rivalry week as they needed a 4-3 come from behind win over Edward Little on Wednesday and a 3-2 come from behind overtime win over St. Dom’s on Saturday. They host Greely this Wednesday (8 p.m.) and travel down to Thornton Academy on Saturday (8:15 p.m.).

No. 2 Bangor suffered a last-second loss to Edward Little last Friday night, 2-1. Their game against Gardiner scheduled for Wednesday was postponed to Monday, Feb. 11th at 6:30 p.m. at Sawyer Arena. They make two trips down to the Portland area this week as they face Portland/Deering on Thursday and Falmouth on Saturday.

No. 3 Biddeford took care of business with a 5-0 win over Windham/Westbrook on Monday and a 3-2 victory over Scarborough on Saturday. They host Edward Little this Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

St. Dom’s remains at No. 4 as they took down previously undefeated Greely 6-2 on Thursday before the tough loss to Lewiston on Saturday. They travel down to Yarmouth Wednesday and face fellow Catholic school Cheverus on Saturday at home.

Edward Little moves up to No. 5 with the win over Bangor and almost pulling off another upset over rival Lewiston. Before their showdown against Biddeford, they face Windham/Westbrook on Monday and host Thornton Academy on Wednesday.

No. 6 Thornton Academy moves up a spot with a 6-2 win over Scarborough on Monday and defeated Falmouth 2-1 on Saturday. They have a back-to-back this week starting with the game against Edward Little and travel to South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Thursday before hosting Lewiston on Saturday.

No. 7 Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach picked up two wins starting with Lawrence/Skowhegan/MCI on Monday and a 3-1 win over Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde on Saturday. They host Lawrence/Skowhegan/MCI on Super Bowl eve.

Scarborough falls to No. 8 after losses to Thornton and Biddeford. They travel to South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Saturday.

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde holds the No. 9 spot with a 3-0 win over Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester on Monday before the lost to Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach.

Portland/Deering maintains its spot at No. 10 as they suffered a 6-5 loss to Cheverus but came back to defeat Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills 5-1 on Saturday. They host Bangor Thursday and travel up to Old Town/Orono on Saturday.
