Well there’s no more undefeated teams in high school hockey in Maine as the three-time defending state champions Lewiston Blue Devils lost 3-2 in overtime against Thornton Academy on Saturday. They remain the No. 1 team in Class A with a 6-3 win over Greely Wednesday. They host South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Wednesday and Bangor on Saturday.
Meanwhile No.2 Bangor took care business on the road defeating Portland/Deering 2-0 and Falmouth 3-1. After two trips this past week to the Portland area, they make two trips to Lewiston-Auburn this week as they face Edward Little on Wednesday before the game against Lewiston on Saturday.
Thornton Academy is the biggest riser this week as they got two big wins over Edward Little on Wednesday 2-1 in overtime and the 3-2 overtime win against Lewiston. They host Scarborough on Tuesday and Greely Saturday while traveling to South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Thursday.
Biddeford slides down a spot to No. 4 as they were doubled up by Edward Little 6-3 Saturday night in their lone game of the week. They host Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble on Wednesday and Falmouth on Saturday.
No. 5 Edward Little also had a 7-0 victory over Windham/Westbrook on Monday before losing to Thornton on Wednesday and coming back to beat Biddeford on Saturday. After facing Bangor Wednesday they travel to Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde on Saturday
No. 6 St. Dom’s started the week with a 1-1 tie with Yarmouth on Wednesday. They had no problem defeating Cheverus Saturday 6-0. They host Falmouth on Wednesday and travel to Portland/Deering on Saturday.
No. 7 Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach played against Lawrence/Skowhegan/MCI on Saturday, but as of press time there has been no score that has been reported.They host York on Friday and face . South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete Saturday.
No. 8 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete returns to the top ten with a 9-1 victory over Windham/Westbrook and a 5-2 win over Scarborough. They host Thornton on Wednesday and Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach on Saturday.
The loss to South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete was Scarborough’s only game of the week. They travel to Thornton on Tuesday, Cheverus on Friday and host Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills on Saturday.
No. 10 Portland/Deering returns to the top ten after they bounced back to the loss to Bangor with a 1-0 win over Old town/Orono on Saturday. They travel to Cape Elizabeth on Thursday before facing St. Dom’s on Saturday.
