The Lewiston Blue Devils maintain their number one spot in this week’s HNIB News Maine Class A Top 10 with a 3-1 win over Edward Little on New Year’s Day and an 8-1 victory over Cheverus on Saturday. Right now they are scheduled to play Falmouth on Tuesday in Falmouth, weather permitting. They are also scheduled to face Portland/Deering in Portland on Thursday and host Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde on Saturday.
There’s no change at No. 2 as Bangor defeated Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde 7-1 on Thursday and defeated rival Brewer 7-2 on Saturday. They host Orono/Old Town on Wednesday in their lone game of the week
St. Dom’s moves up to No. 3 with a 4-3 victory over Scarborough on Wednesday and a 6-0 victory over Biddeford on Saturday. The Saints don’t return to the ice until Jan. 16 when they face cross town rival Edward Little.
Despite the loss to St. Dom’s, Scarborough holds steady at No. 4. They picked up a 6-0 victory over Kennebunk/Wells on Saturday. They host two Class B schools this week, Gorham on Wednesday and Yarmouth on Saturday.
Portland/Deering moves up four spots to No. 5 with a 3-0 victory over South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete and a 6-1 win over Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach on Saturday. Their lone game this week is the game versus Lewiston on Thursday.
Edward Little bounced back from the loss to Lewiston with a 4-3 overtime win over Gorham on Saturday. They host Windham/Westbrook on Wednesday and Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth on Saturday.
Biddeford falls to No. 7. Their week got off to a good start with a 5-4 victory over Thornton Academy, but the Tigers lost 8-3 to Greely on Thursday and 6-0 to St. Dom’s on Saturday. They travel to Falmouth on Thursday and to Kennebunk/Wells on Saturday.
No. 8 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete looks to bounce back from the loss to Portland/Deering as they host Windham/Westbrook on Saturday.
Thornton Academy moves back into the top ten at No. 9 after they bounced back from the loss to Biddeford with a 4-1 win over Cheverus on Thursday and 6-2 victory over York Saturday. They travel to Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills on Wednesday.
No. 10 Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde looks to stop their three game losing streak as they host Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble on Thursday before taking on Lewiston on Saturday.
