Class A is getting a bit tighter.
The week started off with No. 2 Falmouth losing once again as Brandon Daigle’s 47-save effort gave No. 8 Biddeford the 1-0 victory over the Yachtsmen. Falmouth has lost three of four league games and has the Lewiston Blue Devils on Monday, the lone team it has beaten in this slide. On Wednesday, the Yachtsmen travel up to Auburn to face the No. 1 St. Dominic Academy Saints.
No. 4 Lewiston and St. Dom’s both had solid weeks. Lewiston won both of its games beating No. 5 Scarborough, 3-0, on Monday and No. 3 Bangor on Saturday, 7-3. St. Dom’s beat Thornton Academy, 5-1, on Wednesday and had its game against Biddeford postponed on Saturday. After Lewiston and St. Dom’s face Falmouth this week, they meet each other on Super Bowl Eve at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
Bangor’s lone game this week was the loss to Lewiston. A marquee game on Wednesday against Eastern B power Messalonskee and a game on Friday against No. 7 Brunswick are on this week’s schedule.
Scarborough, in addition to its game against Lewiston on Monday, had its game against Cape Elizabeth on Saturday wiped out because of the snow storm. The makeup date is next Saturday.
No. 6 Cheverus is in a middle of a two-week break and returns to action Saturday against Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills.
Biddeford tries to keep the momentum going with games against Cape Elizabeth on Thursday and rival Thornton Academy on Saturday.
No. 9 Noble Wells continued to take care of business on Wednesday with a 7-3 victory over Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills. NW meets Marshwood/Traip on Saturday.
Brunswick had the week off and will return on Friday with a home contest against Bangor.
No. 10 Lawrence/Skowhegan picked up a key 7-3 victory over Edward Little on Monday and faces Thornton Academy on Wednesday, Cony/Monmouth on Thursday, and Portland/Deering on Saturday.
