There has been a slight shifting in the East.

The top two teams in Eastern A met on Wednesday and Bangor traveled down to Lewiston to face the Blue Devils. The Rams came away with the 3-2 victory. It was Bangor’s lone game of the week and it won’t return to the ice until Jan. 25 to face Cheverus.  Like with many schools across the state, it’s exam week.

The Blue Devils bounced back with a 5-2 win over the Brunswick Dragons on Saturday night. They have a showdown with Scarborough on Martin Luther King Day and face Biddeford next Saturday.

Brunswick defeated Mt. Ararat/Lisbon 2-1 on Thursday. Their next game is against Lawrence/Skowhegan who’s holding the final playoff spot in Eastern Class A.

The St. Dominic Academy Saints seem to have their offense back in form. After an 8-1 win over Cony/Monmouth  on Jan. 11, they backed it up with a 5-3 win over Lawrence/Skowhegan and a 8-0 win over the Biddeford Tigers this week. Their game against Thornton Academy was postponed on Saturday. Just like their rivals, Lewiston, their next game is against the Scarborough Red Storm on Jan. 25.

Edward Little had the week off as their game against Bonny Eagle was moved due to weather and the Red Eddies won’t be back to the ice until Jan.25 a full two weeks since their last game.

It’s all quiet on the Western Front as Scarborough and Falmouth,  the two perennial powers in Western A,  had the week off, although Falmouth took part in the Nate Nickerson Invitational in Massachusetts over the weekend, dropping a pair of games to Mass. teams Weymouth and Barnstable.

Cheverus only had one game, against Yarmouth on Thursday where they defeated the Clippers 7-3. Their game against Portland/Deering on Saturday was postponed due to the snowstorm that moved in during the day.

Thornton Academy’s lone game was against Greely where they defeated the Rangers 7-3. They face Marshwood/Traip next Saturday.

Noble/Wells dispatched Bonny Eagle 9-0 this week and their next two games are against Marshwood/Traip and South Portland.
