Maine Class A Poll: Lewiston winning streak comes to an end

For the first time this season, No. 1 Lewiston has lost as No. 2 Cheverus came away with a 2-1 victory. It snapped a 22-game winning streak. The Blue Devils got back to their winning ways on Friday with a 3-1 win over Bangor. They host Gardiner on Thursday and travel to Falmouth on Saturday.

Cheverus also came away with a 5-1 victory over Cape Elizabeth on Saturday. They have Marshwood/Traip/Sanford on Wednesday and Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard on Saturday.

No. 3 Biddeford beat their rivals Thornton Academy 2-1 on Saturday. They travel to play Scarborough and host Greely on Saturday

No. 4 Falmouth defeated Portland/Deering 9-2 on Thursday. They travel to York on Monday before hosting Lewiston on Saturday.

No. 5 Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth defeated Edward Little 4-2 on Thursday. They host Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse on Tuesday before welcoming Bangor on Saturday.

No. 6 Bangor started the week beating their rival Brewer 11-2 on Wednesday before suffering the loss to Lewiston. They host Gardiner on Tuesday before traveling down to face Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth on Saturday.

No. 7 Edward Little squeaked by Gardiner 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday before dropping the game against Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth.They bounced back Saturday with a 2-1 win on Saturday. They host St. Dom’s on Wednesday.

No. 8 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete defeated Marshwood/Traip/Sanford 12-1 on Wednesday before defeating Portland/Deering 3-2. They host Cape Elizabeth on Thursday before traveling down to Thornton Academy on Saturday.

No. 9 Poland/Gray New-Gloucester/Oak Hill/Leavitt lost 9-0 to St. Dom’s on Wednesday. They travel to Maranacook/Winthrop/Madison on Wednesday and to Gorham on Saturday.

No. 10 St. Dom’s also defeated Yarmouth 2-0 on Saturday. They face Edward Little on Wednesday.
