Maine Class A Poll: Big Lewiston-St. Dom’s contest on tap this week

The No. 1 Lewiston Blue Devils showed how dominant they can be this past week with a 12-0 victory over an always tough No. 9 Bangor club. They also defeated No. 8 Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth, 2-0, on Saturday.

This week they face two traditional rivals on the road in Biddeford on Tuesday and St. Dom’s on Thursday.

No. 2 Falmouth defeated rival Greely 6-2 on Monday in its lone game of the week. They have Bangor on Wednesday and host Biddeford on Saturday.

No. 3 St. Dom’s¬†defeated rival Edward Little 6-0 in its lone game of the week and outscored the Red Eddies this season 13-0. Lewiston is their only game of the week.

No. 4 Scarborough went 3-0 on the week. The week started with a 6-2 win over Thornton Academy. On Wednesday, they defeated EL 4-1 and Saturday the week ended with a 2-0 win over Gorham. They have Portland/Deering on Thursday and Noble/Wells on Saturday.

The No. 5 Biddeford Tigers continue to roll as they defeated Noble/Wells on Wednesday 5-0. Their game against York was postponed on Saturday. They have two tough tests in Falmouth and Lewiston this week.

No. 6 Portland/Deering won two games this week, defeating South Portland/Waynflete/-Freeport 2-1 on Thursday and posting a 5-3 victory over Bangor on Saturday. They started the week with a 5-2 loss to Cheverus. Scarborough is their lone game of the week.

In addition to beating Portland/Deering, No. 7 Cheverus defeated South Portland 10-3. They are currently on a 10-day break.

Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth defeated Windham/Westbrook in their other game of the week 6-1. They have Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester on the road Wednesday and host Lawrence/Skowhegan on Saturday.

Bangor meanwhile is struggling, having lost three in a row after starting the year 4-0. In addition to their loss to Lewiston, Portland/Deering defeated them 5-3 on Saturday. They have a showdown with Falmouth on Wednesday.

No. 10 Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse crawls into the ranking as they defeated Gorham 7-6 on Wednesday before falling to Greely 4-3 on Saturday. They host Brunswick on Wednesday and Windham/Westbrook on Saturday.
