Maine Class A Poll: #1 Lewiston posts a pair of explosive wins

No. 1 Lewiston continued to roll as it defeated Scarborough 7-1, on Wednesday and Edward Little, 11-0, on Saturday. The Blue Devils’ lone game this week is against rival St. Dom’s, a rare Friday night contest.

No. 2 Falmouth had its game against St. Dom’s postponed on Tuesday due to Mother Nature. On Saturday, they defeated Bangor 4-1. This week they travel to Scarborough on Wednesday and Thornton Academy on Saturday.

No. 3 Biddeford took care of business with a 4-1 over South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Saturday night. They travel to St. Dom’s on Wednesday before hosting Scarborough on Saturday.

No. 4 Cheverus moves up with a 5-3 victory over Portland/Deering on Thursday and a 5-4 overtime victory over Cape Elizabeth on Saturday. They have Yarmouth on Tuesday and host Brunswick on Thursday.

No. 5 St. Dom’s dropped its only game of the week to Cape Elizabeth on Wednesday, 3-1. It has the two big games against Biddeford and Lewiston this week.

No. 6 Bangor’s offense seemed to get back on track with a 9-0 victory over Edward Little on Wednesday before dropping a 4-1 decision to Bangor on Saturday. They travel to John Bapst on Wednesday for their lone game of the week.

No. 7 Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth defeated Messalonskee, 6-4, on Thursday and Poland/Gray-New Gloucester/Oak Hill/Leavitt on Saturday evening 4-1. This week they travel to Edward Little on Wednesday and Windham/Westbrook on Saturday.

No. 8 Scarborough bounced back Saturday after the 7-1 loss to Lewiston with a 4-1 victory over Thornton Academy. The only two games this week are against Falmouth and Biddeford.

No. 9 Portland/Deering also dropped an 8-6 decision to Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard on Saturday in addition to the loss to Cheverus. They travel to Thornton on Monday, hosting a rematch with Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard on Thursday and hosting Noble/Wells on Saturday.

No. 10 Poland/Gray-New Gloucester/Oak Hill/Leavitt defeated Windham/Westbrook, 3-2, on Wednesday before dropping the game against Cony/Hall-Dale/Monmouth. They only travel to Windham/Westbrook on Wednesday this week.
