Girls Prep Top 15
With less than month to go in the regular season, focus can start to turn to the post-season and the new Girls Prep playoff format this winter, with the emergence of three tournaments, including the Elite Tournament, which will feature the top eight teams.
Back to the regular season, there appears to be no stopping #1 Nobles (20-0-0). Another solid week saw the ‘Dawgs roll to wins over Lawrence Academy (6-1), Cushing (9-1) and a big victory over St. Paul’s Saturday (5-2).
Nobles has outscored its opposition to the tune of 91-16 so far, and in that run has seven wins over current Top 15 teams. They stay in league this week seeing St. George’s (Wednesday) and Brooks (Saturday).
#2 Kent (11-3-1) stays put thanks to wins over Choate (6-4) and Lawrenceville (4-2). The Lions are off this week.
#3 Tabor (14-1-0) is back on track. The Seawolves downed Milton Academy (4-2) and Hill School (5-2) and then earned a key win over #9 Westminster, 3-1, on Saturday. #8 Phillips Andover will be another stern test Wednesday, followed by weekend games with Lawrence Academy (Friday) and St. Mark’s (Saturday).
#4 Williston (12-4-1) scored just one goal this week, but still had a tie and win. The Wildcats played to a scoreless tie with Westminster, and then got past Hotchkiss (1-0). They get Taft Wednesday.
Despite Saturday’s loss to Nobles, St. Paul’s (12-4-0) bumps up a spot to #5. It did beat Northfield this week and will see New Hampton on Friday in a key Lakes Division battle.
BB&N (14-3-0) had perhaps the best week of anyone, checking in at #6 after impressive wins over #7 Loomis Chaffee and Andover, as well as 4-2 conquest of Cushing. A three-game week will feature Governors Academy (Wednesday), Milton Academy (Friday) and Exeter (Saturday).
In addition to the Tabor game, Andover (11-5-0) takes on New Hampton Saturday.
