Girls Prep Top 15
In a scheduling coincidence, the top two teams in the most recent HNIB News Girls Prep Top 15 squared off with teams 3 and 4 on Saturday. There would be no change at the top.
Surging #1 Nobles (12-0-0) took care of #4 Kent (5-3-1) in a rematch of last year’s New England D1 title game, after downing Hotchkiss by the same score the night before on a weekend trip to Western CT.
#2 Tabor (9-0-0), in its first game back from winter break, downed #3 Williston 4-2.
The ‘Dawgs face #8 Rivers (7-1-0) in a key ISL battle on Monday, and then get Middlesex (Wednesday) and Berkshire (Saturday).
The Seawolves host #11 Brooks on Wednesday and face #13 New Hampton on Saturday.
#3 Williston (8-3-0), which did take the Winchendon Invitational with wins over Cushing, Lawrence Academy and the host team, will ready for Berkshire (Wednesday), St. Mark’s (Friday) and Gunnery (Saturday).
Prior to the Nobles loss, Kent did knock off Taft 4-1. The Lions get #7 Loomis Chaffee on Wednesday after Gunnery on Monday. Also ahead this week is a Saturday date with Lawrenceville.
#5 BB&N (8-1-0) returned from break with a solid win over Berkshire (6-1) and had its Saturday game with Groton postponed. The Knights will face #6 St. Paul’s (8-2-0) in a huge battle on Wednesday.
The game is the first of a big week for the Pelicans (8-2-0), who won a pair of games on Saturday with wins over Deerfield (4-2) and Lawrenceville (3-1). They also get #9 Andover this coming Saturday. BB&N beat St. Paul’s at the Harrington Tournament in late December.
Loomis Chaffee had wins over Canterbury and Berkshire, but were knotted up by Milton Academy on Friday. After Kent, they get Hotchkiss on Saturday.
#8 Rivers (7-1-0) had a key game with Brooks postponed on Saturday. That came on the heels of a win over Cushing (6-1). The Red Wings should be ready for Nobles on Monday. That game is followed by St. George’s (Wednesday) and Winchendon (Saturday).
Andover returned with home wins over Kimball Union (4-2) and Choate (7-0). The Big Blue gets Brooks on Monday as they ready for St. Paul’s.
#10 Wesminster (7-3-0) beat Gunnery (5-1) and Taft (3-0). The Martlets look to continue their success in a busy week with Choate (Wednesday), Canterbury (Friday) and Northfield (Saturday).
