Girls Prep Top 15
While the top four did their jobs this past week to remain solid in their positioning in this week’s HNIB News Girls Prep Top 15, there was some movement in the remaining spots as teams jockey for post-season positioning.
#1 Nobles (25-0-0) got a scare Friday from #6 BB&N, but prevailed in a tightly-fought 2-1 contest to remain perfect. The ‘Dawgs also blanked Groton 7-0 and Saturday travelled to #9 Westminster and rode home with a solid 4-0 win. #9 Andover will be Wednesday’s foe, then after a game with Thayer Friday, it will be #3 Tabor in a huge showdown Saturday.
#2 Kent (13-3-1) cruised to wins over Canterbury (7-1) and Millbrook (5-0). The Lions are at Hotchkiss on Wednesday.
Tabor improved to 20-1-0 with wins over Middlesex (5-1), St. Paul’s (4-1) and Governors Academy (5-2). Not only do the Seawolves see Nobles Saturday, but first must get through BB&N Wednesday,
#4 Williston (15-4-1) had an impressive 5-0 win over Andover Saturday that followed up a 3-0 shutout of Choate. The Wildcats have Northfield Wednesday before a key one Saturday with #5 Loomis Chaffee (15-5-1).
The Pelicans, on an 8-0-1 streak, beat Hotchkiss, Cushing and Choate this past week. They are at Pomfret Wednesday.
BB&N (17-5-0) also had a win over St. George’s. After Tabor the Knights have Lawrence Academy (Friday) and St. Marks’s (Saturday).
#7 St. Paul’s (13-6-0) had a tough week with losses to Tabor and New Hampton, but did bounce back with a shutout of Pomfret (4-0). Their schedule sees Exeter (Wednesday), Tilton (Friday) and Winchendon (Saturday).
Westminster (14-6-1) climbs up to #8. The Martlets did beat Deerfield (3-2) are get set to take on Taft Wednesday and Berkshire Saturday.
Andover did knock off Milton Academy prior to the Williston loss. The Big Blue travel to Worcester Academy on Saturday.
On the strength of a three-win week with victories over St. Pauls, Brewster Academy and Exeter, New Hampton (15-8-0 is up to #10. The Huskies play Dexter Southfield (Wednesday) and then Northfield (Friday).
