Top-ranked Millbrook (6-0-1) gets tested right out of the chute as the Mustangs travel to improved Canterbury to begin the new year (1/8). On Friday, Millbrook hosts Morristown-Beard in a non-league contest.
#2 Rivers (3-1-0) can make a lot of noise tonight if they can knock off Division I’s top team – Nobles. The Red Wings have started strong and also have St. George’s (away 1/8) and Winchendon (home 1/11) on this week’s docket.
#3 Gunnery (6-2-1) is coming off a solid showing at this past weekend’s Exeter Invitational, winning three games and tying D-1 power Williston, who the Highlanders will see again on Saturday.
#4 Southfield (4-2-1) gets a pair of Division I opponents in Andover (1/8) and at Tabor (1/10) before hosting Thayer Academy on Saturday.
Looking to run off some wins, #5 Middlesex (2-4-0) will still face the rugged schedule, travelling to Nobles on Wednesday and to Governor’s Academy on Saturday.
#6 Proctor (8-5-0) won only one of four games at the Exeter Invitational against tough competition, that win a 3-1 verdict of Northfield Mt. Hermon. The Hornets are at Winchendon on Wednesday.
A tough week awaits #7 Governor’s Academy (4-2-1) with a game at Fenway Park Wednesday against St. Paul’s and Saturday’s ISL battle with Middlesex.
With a solid showing at Exeter, #8 Canterbury (5-2-0) moves into the HNIB News poll. The Saints this past weekend reached the finals of the Exeter Invitational Tournament, falling to D-1 heavy Williston.
A team to watch in the next few weeks will be Brooks.
