Girls Prep D2 Top 10: Two more shutouts for #2 Brooks

The top eight teams remain intact this week as regular season action winds down this coming Saturday and the eight Girls Prep D2 post-season berths are announced.

#1 Vermont Academy (26-2-1) won big and small, beating Gunnery (4-3), Kimball Union (2-1) and Tilton (8-0). Remaining Games: Brewster Academy (Wednesday), Lakes Region Tournament (Friday).

Two more shutouts for #2 Brooks (12-5-5), which still hasn’t lost to a D2 opponent, beating Groton (1-0) and Middlesex (3-0). Remaining Games: St. Mark’s (Wednesday), Governors Academy (Saturday).

Keep an eye on #3 Rivers (17-3-0). The Red Wings blanked Governors Academy (7-0) and Proctor (3-0) to run their winning streak to 12 games. Remaining Games: Lawrence Academy (Wednesday), Dexter Southfield (Friday).

#4 Worcester Academy (15-6-1) fell to Winchendon (4-3) but did have wins over Holderness (6-0) and Andover (4-0). Remaining Games: Greenwich Academy (Friday), Canterbury (Saturday).

#5 Kimball Union (13-5-5) gave Vermont Academy all it could handle in the 2-1 loss. The Wildcats also tied Tilton (3-3) and beat Hebron (3-0). Remaining Games: New Hampton (Wednesday), Lakes Region Tournament (Friday).

#6 Gunnery (8-8-2) fell to Vermont Academy by a goal. A busy final week lies ahead. Remaining Games: Millbrook (Monday), Kent (Wednesday), Canterbury (Friday), Northfield (Saturday).

#7 Greenwich Academy (13-6-1) beat Darien HS in its only action. Remaining Games: Worcester Academy (Friday), Albany Academy (Saturday).

Wins over Lawrence Academy (4-1) and Groton (2-1), and a loss to Milton Academy (4-2) was the week for #8 St. George’s (10-9-0). Remaining Games: Tabor (Wednesday), Middlesex (Saturday).

Back in the rankings this week is #9 Proctor (11-10-2), which had wins over Brewster Academy (5-0) and Holderness (2-0). Remaining Games: Lakes Region Tournament (Friday).

#10 Canterbury (15-10-1) had a tough loss to Millbrook. Remaining Games: Loomis Chaffee (Monday), Gunnery (Friday), Worcester Academy (Saturday).
